This Is Why Your ‘Locked’ Luggage Isn’t As Safe As You Think

When traveling, it’s best not to keep valuable items in a locked suitcase.

Your passport, credit cards, cash, and other important items should stay on your person (or at least close by). Some people believe that locking them in a suitcase is a safe alternative…but it isn’t.

Even if you have a strong lock, the suitcase can be breached with relative ease.

Your locked suitcase isn’t as safe as you think.

Yet another example of how quickly a zip breach can occur:

Expensive new luggage and gear may offer safer alternatives…but it’s best to not take anything for granted (especially if you’re traveling overseas). Traveler beware!

This Little Girl Never Saw Or Heard Her Mother Until This Amazing Moment

At 2 years old, Nicolly Pereira never saw nor heard her mother.

This toddler from Brazil was both deaf and blind. She was diagnosed with pediatric glaucoma after birth. The glaucomas in her eyes were so bad, she couldn’t even see light.

Her mother was desperate to help her little girl.

Nicolly received seven different surgeries in her home of Santa Catarina, Brazil, but they were unsuccessful.

But then her mother, Daiana Pereira, posted Nicolly’s story on Facebook.

It went viral…and eventually, a Facebook user from Miami contacted the Jackson Health Foundation’s International Kids Fund (Wonderfund) on behalf of Nicolly. The Fund partnered with the Kevin Garcia Foundation and together the organizations raised $17,000 to pay for Nicolly’s surgery at Bascom Palmer.

For months, Daiana believed her child was developmentally disabled.

Not only was the toddler deaf and blind, but she could not talk or walk. Amazingly, when Nicolly and her mother arrived in the U.S., doctors at the University of Miami discovered she had water buildup in her inner ears.

The doctors drained the little girl’s ears and she could hear!

Once she was out of surgery and recovery, this baby experienced something amazing.

She was able to see light — and mom — for the very first time.

Before this moment, Nicolly lived in a dark world without her mother’s face.

(Feel free to cry.)

It’s incredible what this little girl had to fight through.

If you were moved by this story, please consider making a donation to the organizations that made this all possible.

You can make a donation to the Wonderfund here. Learn more about the Kevin Garcia Foundation here.

What an amazing time we live in. Thanks to kind-hearted strangers and social media, this girl can now experience a world full of light.

This Special Fungus Looks Like A Zombie Devil Hand From Hell

There are many beautiful and fragrant plants that grow in forests around the world that make hikes a delight. Clathrus archeri is not one of those plants. The “Octopus Stinkhorn” or “Devil’s Fingers” is not pleasant in any way — and it’s one of the creepiest-looking plants out there.

This delightfully disgusting plant is indigenous to Australia (of course) and Tasmania.

But you can also find it in Europe, North America, and Asia as an introduced species.

The fungus grows from an off-white egg…erupting into bright red zombie fingers.

Not only does it look disgusting, but once mature, it smells like putrid flesh.

Delightful.

As if it would be a surprise, this plant is also extremely creepy as it bursts from its suberumpent egg.

Technically, you can eat Devil’s Fingers without getting poisoned…but the taste is supposed to be terrible.

After all, it smells like a corpse.

In summary: the Devil’s Fingers, which looks like a dismembered zombie hand, is technically not poisonous…but you should still do your best to avoid ingesting it.

You know Snow White never encountered no stinkin’ Octopus Stinkhorn.

Or else she’d be running back to the castle where she’d be killed, rather than playing around in the forest all day.
