This Company Just Took Their Advertising Campaign To A Heartbreaking New Level

There are plenty of commercials out there that rely on shock value, and this one’s no different.

The folks over at Life Alert decided to ramp up their advertising efforts with a heartbreaking commercial that highlights the dangers of living alone in old age. This brand focuses on cutting down on that level of risk by providing elderly people who still want their independence with wearable devices that they can use to call emergency services.

Their newest advertisement makes the issue hard to ignore.

It’s important that elderly people take precautions to protect themselves if they live alone. The older, wiser people among us deserve their independence, but the ability to reach out for help in times of crisis is key.

This Tribe Digs Up Its Dead And Gives Them Makeovers Before Living With Them

Every culture has their own sacred death rituals, but some are far more frightening than others.

Take the Torajan people, for example. On the Indonesian island of Sulawesi, dead bodies are seen very differently than they are in the States. Corpses aren’t actually considered to be dead until a water buffalo is sacrificed to accompany them into the afterlife. It takes years for some families to be able to afford the expensive ceremony, so many keep their loved ones inside their homes until they can.

But even after their deceased relatives are properly buried, some families decide to keep their memory alive by digging the bodies up in a bizarre celebration.

The residents of Toraja proudly display the dead as part of their Ma’nene ritual.

Every year, the villagers dig up their late family members in order to honor them.

The decaying bodies don’t spook them at all — they prefer to see them so they can mourn.

They carefully clean their ancestors to preserve their dignity.

Then the corpses are actually groomed and dressed up.

And the families even pose with them for photos as if they were still alive.

Though they are undeniably creepy, some of the bodies have pleasant looks on their faces like they approve of the ritual.

But others are just terrifying.

These people see all of this as a beautiful process, but it’s more than a little disturbing.

Would you ever consider going to a celebration like this? Me neither. I’m all for expressing your culture, but this is way, way too morbid for me.

This Is Exactly What You Expect When You Explore An Abandoned Funeral Home

In case you haven’t noticed, urban exploring has become a pretty popular pastime recently. We’ve featured quite a few creepy urban exploration stories, everything from old mental asylums to recently abandoned shopping malls slated for the wrecking ball. However, we’ve never featured an exploration of a derelict funeral home before.

Brace yourselves, it’s exactly as creepy as you might think.

Last year a group of urban explorers headed up by YouTuber Matt Glasscock discovered an abandoned funeral home near Birmingham, Alabama.

So, of course they had to go explore it. Much of what was inside is what you’d expect from an abandoned building. Except here, there were plenty of leftover coffins to give the place an extra-creepy vibe.

Except, not all of the coffins were empty. In case you’re having trouble seeing, this coffin actually contains some sort of remains.

Luckily, that was the only body these guys encountered here.

You can check out the full video from their exploration below.

What I want to know is how a body ended up getting left behind at the funeral home after they shut down? That just seems like a lawsuit waiting to happen. Hopefully, whatever or whomever those bones belong to doesn’t decide to haunt these explorers for disturbing their sleep.

What This Company Is Able To Do With Human Ashes Is Pretty Crazy

If you don’t opt for a traditional funeral, which can be expensive, you’ll probably face the question of what to with your loved one’s ashes after they’re cremated. While some people store them, others prefer to have the ashes scattered. However, many folks aren’t aware that there are a number of laws designed to stop people from doing that, since human ashes can be toxic.

So what can you do to honor the memory of your loved ones without breaking the bank? That’s where the folks at Memory Glass come in.

For the last 14 years, the creators at Memory Glass have been offering families a different way to remember their loved ones with customized glass orbs containing their ashes.

The result of the process, which you can see below, is actually kind of breathtaking.

To get one of these glass orbs, you first ship your loved one’s ashes to Memory Glass. From there, they lay the ashes out on a thick metal table.

They then roll the ashes onto a glob of molten glass. Their methods for this step will vary based on the pattern you choose.

Then the ashes are coated with colored glass and topped with another layer of clear glass.

Finally, they give the orb its final shape.

You can see the process unfold in the video below.

While you might think that these pendants cost thousands of dollars, they’re actually reasonably priced. If you’re interested, you can learn more about the Memory Glass application and intake process here.
