This Security Camera Footage Does Look An Awful Lot Like Evidence Of Ghosts

The way that ghosts behave has always intrigued me. Why do they do the things they do? While it’s highly unlikely that we’ll ever get a real answer, that doesn’t mean we can’t speculate.

Personally, I think most spirits screw with us for fun. Being dead sounds like a pretty boring gig, after all. If you could, why wouldn’t you spice things up by pranking the living? I know I would. For evidence of such mischievous activities, I present to you the following security camera footage from outside a mosque in Malaysia.

It’s freaky activity, but it’s certainly not evil.

(via Reddit)

Honestly, this seems a little too perfectly staged for my taste. I want to believe, but I need to throw in a healthy dose of skepticism as well. Still, spirits do seem to feel drawn to places of worship, so who knows?

Apparently, Ebay Is A Lot More Morbid Than We All Thought

As we all know, eBay was the first real wild west of the internet back in the day. Of course, with more money came more regulations, which means that it’s hard to find strange and borderline illegal items for sale on eBay anymore.

Unless you’re looking for human skulls, that is. Yes, I said human skulls. In fact, until very recently, it was pretty darned easy to get your hands on someone else’s noggin thanks to a bizarre loophole.

Over the course of a few months, the staff at the Louisiana Department of Justice in Baton Rouge conducted a morbid study.

iStock

They tracked the sale of human skulls on eBay. During their seven-month investigation, 237 people listed 454 skulls for sale. The highest opening bid was $5,500 and the lowest was just one cent.

iStock

Technically, selling human skulls online is a violation of the company’s terms of service. There was a loophole, however, that claimed it was okay if they were sold for medical research. That being said, there’s really no way to regulate what people do with their eBay purchases.

iStock

The majority of skulls for sale came from California, followed closely by Missouri.

According to investigators, not all of the skulls were donated to science. Some probably came from archaeological digs or from police investigations.

Since the report was released last week, eBay has announced a change to their terms of service to ban all sales of human body parts with the exception of hair.

Well, I guess I missed my chance to snag one of these. Blast you, researchers!

A Symptom Of Rabies Is Hydrophobia… And It’s Way More Terrifying Than You Thought

In most parts of the Western world, you no longer have to worry much about catching rabies. Sure, the virus is still out there, but it’s nowhere near as common as it used to be. Sadly, that’s not the case in other parts of the world.

When humans contract rabies, the disease is devastating and almost always deadly unless immediate action is taken. Among the many symptoms of rabies is a severe aversion to water known as hydrophobia. Those suffering from rabies often experience extreme difficulty swallowing, and they panic when presented with liquids. Watch what happens when this hydrophobic man tries to take a drink.

WARNING: This video is not for the faint of heart.

No one on the Internet knows exactly what happened to the man in this video. Judging by his symptoms, however, the prognosis seems pretty grim.

This Video Will Make You Want To Root For The Spider…That Wasp Is Nasty

The Brazilian wandering spider is one of the world’s deadliest arachnids. It also happens to be fairly aggressive and will go out of its way to bite you if you disturb it.

The tarantula hawk — which is actually a wasp — is similar to the wandering spider in that they both deliver extremely painful bites/stings. Very rarely do the two ever meet, but anything is possible, and in the following video, these deadly creatures come across one another in the wild.

Normally, tarantula hawks hunt tarantulas, so this one must have thought the Brazilian wandering spider would be as easy to take down as its normal prey…

This is first time I’ve ever rooted for a spider…

While it’s unclear who actually won, some think the tarantula hawk died but managed to sting the wandering spider enough to paralyze it. Either way, nature can be extremely brutal sometimes…

This Video From Inside A Tornado Is Wild…How Are They Even Alive?!

For a lot of people, there is nothing scarier than a tornado. There’s really no defense against the massive storms except maybe top-notch civil engineering and evacuation. Depending on its power, a tornado will destroy everything in its path.

In case you haven’t realized by now, it’s a very bad idea to run towards a tornado.

Still, there are many thrill seekers and filmmakers who want to get as close to a tornado as they can. To do this, they create heavy-duty, custom vehicles that can stand up to the high winds of a tornado. Two of the flagship storm-chasing vehicles are the Tornado Intercept Vehicle 1 (TIV 1) and Tornado Intercept Vehicle 2 (TIV 2).

This is what the TIVs look like. They started as Ford trucks and turned into storm fortresses.

Both vehicles were conceived by filmmaker Sean Casey and designed to film with an IMAX camera within or very close to a tornado. Below is a test video shot from inside the TIV as they drove straight toward a violent wedge tornado in Kansas.

Before the winds ripped the instruments off the roof of the vehicle the winds were registering at 150 to 175 miles per hour.

Alright, now that is literally insane. Sure, they have a reinforced vehicle, but still. Who knows what kind of debris that tornado might have picked up along the way. Storm chasing is not a hobby for the faint of heart.

It Looks Like Ball Lightning Is A Real Thing After All…And They Got It On Tape

Ball lightning is one of the rarest atmospheric phenomena known to man. Throughout history, there have been stories of researchers and ordinary folk encountering ball-shaped lightning. However, we still don’t know how it happens, and despite years of research, scientists have been unable to recreate it in a controlled environment.

New footage from outside of Novosibirsk, Russia, is breathing new life into the ball lightning debate. The video was taken by Roman Tregubov, a graduate of the Novosibirsk State Technical University. This is the first time ball lightning has been captured on film with such clarity.

(via Unexplained Mysteries)

If I didn’t know better, I would say that was a UFO. Well, since we don’t actually know what causes ball lightning, it’s fair to say that UFOs might have something to do with it.

When You’re Paddle Boarding, The Last Thing You Want Is This Unexpected Visitor

Orca whales are very curious creatures. They often, especially the young ones, like to get dangerously close to humans who are in boats or out for a swim. Or as in the video below, they sometimes like to approach paddle boarders.

It’s likely that when they get too close, they just want to say hello, but the experience can still be harrowing — they are called killer whales, after all. Luckily, this paddle boarder had his GoPro running during the encounter so we can relive the terror with him firsthand.

I don’t know about him, but if that had happened to me, I would have been thanking my lucky stars rather than laughing and smiling. Yikes!

What Happened To These Twins On A Highway In The U.K. Is Absolutely Insane

Some stories are almost too bizarre to believe, since the actions of the people involved in such stories seem to defy logic and explanation. Then, just when you think there’s a conclusion, everything twists and you’re left scratching your head.

While you probably haven’t heard too many stories like that, the tale of two Swedish twins on a trip to the U.K. certainly falls into that category.

Our story begins with police questioning a pair of women alongside a busy highway. A film crew with the police catches the interaction. Then, right in the middle of talking, one of the women makes a run for it and heads straight into traffic.

She is struck by a truck and seconds later, the other woman bolts as well. However, she doesn’t make it very far before being slammed by a car.

With both women lying in the middle of the road, police have to act fast to stop traffic, attend to the injured women, and then clear the roadway.

At that point, one is severely injured, but the one hit by the car could still walk. After regaining consciousness, she bolts back into the street.

Police needed extra help to finally subdue her and bring her back to safety. All the while, the woman continued to struggle and call out for the authorities. Officers at the scene suspected that she must have been high.

A few minutes later, they’re both taken to the hospital.

You can watch it all unfold in the video below. The footage is harrowing, to say the least.

(via Adrian VERNE)

Think this story can’t get any weirder? Well, it does. Turns out that the less injured of the two women was released from the hospital and spent a day in jail. The same day she was released from jail, police found that a 54-year-old man had been stabbed to death. Nearby, they also found the woman badly injured after she jumped from a bridge onto the A2 highway.

While more recent updates are hard to come by, I’m going to keep hunting.

If There Were A Nuclear Attack In The 1970s, This Is What Would Have Been Broadcast

You might say that the 1960s were when Cold War tensions between the United States and the Soviet Union reached their peak, but that doesn’t mean that the 1970s were any picnic. The people of both nations lived under the constant threat of all-out nuclear war.

To prepare for this possibility in the U.S., radio stations in different cities were instructed to create official attack warnings. These recordings were to be broadcast to the population in the event of a nuclear strike on American soil. While these messages are ominous, they still have a friendly flavor to them since they were recorded by radio hosts.

In the video below you can hear the attack warning message recorded by Jim O’Brien for Philadelphia’s WFIL in the early 1970s…

It really makes you think about how many announcements they have these days…there’s gotta be at least one for a zombie apocalypse, right?

They Were On A Boat Enjoying The Day When They Saw This Freaky Thing Approaching

If there’s one cryptid that seems to have exhausted the interest of the public, it’s the Loch Ness Monster. Old Nessie has led researchers on what seems like a wild goose chase for close to 100 years. Still, there are those who will never give up the search for the monster of Loch Ness, Scotland. However, for the rest of us, maybe we should start looking at the lochs in Ireland for some new monsters.

This footage from 2013 shows the Nessie-like hump of a creature approaching a small boat in Lough Foyle, also known as Loch Foyle, in Northern Ireland. The creature is seen approaching one boat in a relatively straight line before disappearing beneath the surface.

Maybe Nessie switched addresses?

(via Unexplained Mysteries)

While it’s easy to jump to conclusions, we need to keep in mind that this could be a hoax. Still, even if it is, it’s a very well orchestrated one.
